Latrobe Regional Hospital is taking registrations for its annual Run for Your Life fun run and walk to be held on Sunday, 18 March.

This year’s event will feature a 10km run and 5km run or walk. The Run for Your Life course starts and ends at Traralgon’s Kay Street gardens.

In 2011, the inaugural Run for Your Life Fun Run and Walk attracted 600 people, including children, parents, grandparents and serious athletes, and raised $15,871. The hospital is anticipating an even bigger turnout this year.

All proceeds from this year’s Fun Run and Walk will go the hospital’s Allied Health Appeal, which aims to raise half a million dollars over two years for the purchase of vital equipment.

Hundreds run

More than 600 people competed in Latrobe Regional Hospital’s inaugural fun run and walk in March 2011.

From serious runners to those wanting an early morning stroll, they took to the Kay Street gardens circuit in Traralgon, raising more than $14,000 for the Operation LRH appeal.

The first man across the line in the 10km run was Jonathan Dillon in a time of 33:09. The fastest woman in this section was Kathryn Ewels in a time of 36:58.

In the 5km event John Brennan won in a time of 20:18. The women’s 5km race was won by an 11 year old girl from Traralgon. Tylah Whitehead was first in 23:55, just four seconds ahead of her mum Tanya Whitehead.
